Disney's Tangled- Review & Giveaway!

Brief Synopsis:

The long-haired Princess Rapunzel has spent her entire life in a tower, but when she falls in love with a bandit who was passing by she must venture into the outside world for the first time to find him.

OUR REVIEW:

This movie had an audience full of adults and children laughing throughout the film. This film was well written. I love that this classic tale has come to life on film. Rapunzel is not like the other Disney princesses, she's one tough princess.  The theme throughout this movie that we loved seemed to be that if you follow your heart, you will endure hard times on your journey through life. Our kids had a few moments that were a little scary for the kids 5 and under. But they were overall very satisfied with the movie. I think they have done a great job with the movie, other than the things I have mentioned in this post. On a scale of 1-10, we ranked this film a 9 out of 10. (Ten being our most favorite movie.) Mainly based on the brief scene of mild violence. The 3 D effects were definitely top notch. This film is worth seeing, keeps children entertained and parents too. Take your kids to watch Tangled for Thanksgiving!

Our favorite part of the entire movie....

Disney's Tangled can be seen at theaters near you on November 24th, 2010. (In the U.S.A.)

Be sure to LIKE Disney's Tangled on Facebook!

Fun Facts:

  •   “Tangled” marks Walt Disney Pictures’ 50th full-length animated feature.
  •       Rapunzel has 70 feet of golden hair and more than 100,000 individual strands.

  • Special software had to be created to simulate movement for the hair, no one had ever animated that much hair before and no leading lady has ever had that much hair before!

  •  If all the hairs on a single head of hair 12 inches long were laid end-to-end, they would stretch 26 miles. If all the hair on Rapunzel’s head were laid end to end they would stretch for 1,820 miles.

  • Ten women from the production grew their hair out during the making of the film; ultimately each cut about 10 inches of hair to donate to an organization that makes real-hair wigs for people who’ve lost their hair due to illness.

Speak Tongan

I am Tongan, my husband is Samoan. We absolutely love our cultures and the beauty that is found within them. I can understand most of what is being said in Tongan, but I need to work on speaking Tongan. The kids know a few words in Tongan and Samoan. The languages are similar. Most fluent speaking Tongans can understand Samoan and fluent speaking Samoans can understand Tongan.

Polynesians are blessed with cultures that are rich in traditions. Both of our cultures encourage selflessness, love, and family being the center of life. We are definitely learning to embrace our Polynesian heritage. One of the best ways to strengthen & embrace our heritage is by learning the languages of our ancestors. I am absolutely excited about this new website that I found out about on Facebook. It's called Speak Tongan

Speak Tongan is a fantastic site that is easy to use and features audio lessons. It's a beginners guide to speaking Tongan. Be sure to check out the Speak Tongan Terms section of the site. You can listen to the audio on the site for free, but downloads of the audio cost $5-$10. (Very budget-friendly!)

I hope the administrators and creators come up with a Samoan version of the site too. I know that learning to speak our Polynesian languages will bless our lives and the lives of anyone who wants to enrich their understanding of culture and Polynesian languages.

Disney's Tangled- Swinging Into Theaters Near You

Walt Disney Pictures presents “Tangled,” one of the most hilarious, hair-raising tales ever told.  When the kingdom’s most wanted—and most charming—bandit Flynn Rider (voice of Zachary Levi) hides out in a mysterious tower, he’s taken hostage by Rapunzel (voice of Mandy Moore), a beautiful and feisty tower-bound teen with 70 feet of magical, golden hair.  Flynn’s curious captor, who’s looking for her ticket out of the tower where she’s been locked away for years, strikes a deal with the handsome thief and the unlikely duo sets off on an action-packed escapade, complete with a super-cop horse, an over-protective chameleon and a gruff gang of pub thugs. In theaters this holiday season in Disney Digital 3D™, “Tangled” is a story of adventure, heart, humor and hair—lots of hair.
