Our family loved the cereals we were sent. We received Lucky Charms and Honey Nut Cheerios. Of course they are some of the classic cereals, what better cereals to pair up with DC Super Hero Comics.
Each of the cereals have that distinct freshness and flavor that is always nostalgic for me, as a child of the 80's and 90's these cereals were always the most requested in our house. I love it that Big G Cereals makes reading an important part of a healthy meal. I am sure that your family will enjoy some of these tasty cereals and the bonus comic books as well!

I think Comic books are great for literacy...especially the ones that teach underlying concepts that kids need.

Well taking up comics can sneak in some lessons without that can make kids avid fans. These can replace an hour of video games or tv as well! (Christian N. Cnfc800@gmail.com)

ReplyDeleteWe use them to get my son more interested in reading. Because it's not "chapter books" he'll pour through them and read them to me.

Comics are a fun way to get a child interested in reading. With all the pictures and short texts they don't feel like reading is work or boring. cwitherstine at zoominternet dot net

ReplyDeleteI read comics with my son. He reads most of it and I help him with the larger words. He just picked up the newest Batgirl comic and we are going to read it together tonight!

When my oldest first started to read, he had a big interest in comics (still does!) With all of the photos, and few words, he was able to decipher the stories easily. Since he really wanted to know exactly what was going on in each comic, he worked hard figuring out the words on his own and, with some of the more advanced comics, even learned some pretty tough vocabulary!

I think comic books seem less intimidating than an actual book
ReplyDeletecluelessme8@hotmail.com
It started with my 80 year old parents reading to my children on sundays. And then taking them to the comic book store.

ReplyDeletebecause I don't see my first comment. we read them together and then the younger kids make their own comic
ReplyDeletemamato6@cox.net
I feel that anytime you READ to your child and they are interested in the story and the outcome, you build a natural curiosity for the next story! And eventually they do want to read them themselves.

I encourage my kids to read, period. As long as it is not inappropriate than so be it.I wouldn't care if they we reading the back of a cereal box as long as they were reading.
ReplyDeleteWith that being said, comic books hold my boys attention a lot longer than traditional books. It is also something that they share a bond with their father over. It's a win, win!
